Happy Birthday, Shakespeare

Hey guys :3 (all 2 of you, for now)
This is just a quick post. I felt obliged to honor Shakespeare, since we're reading a play of his this week
So...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. SHAKESPEARE

lol also, as a side note:
I was reading the play in English class, and I couldn't stop giggling. I read a sentence with the word "methinks" in it, and I started thinking of Gollum from Lord of the Rings. I read the rest of the page in a Gollum voice, and kept adding in "my precious" at random spots.
It was really funny to me
My teacher must think I'm insane... T.T

So yeah :D
See you all on Friday!!

Week #1 Books!!!

Hello, fellow bookworms!!

I am super excited to announce what we will be reading this week!!
I have actually decided to do two books this week, and one of them is a graphic novel. That way, people who want to slowly ease themselves into the reading world, rather than diving right into a tough book, have something to read as well.

DRUM ROLL, PLEASE!!!

The two books are.....

V For Vendetta
By Alan Moore

and

A Midsummer Night's Dream
By Shakespeare

^_^ Hurrah!!!!
So before we say our farewells until next Friday, here's a little background on the two books:

V For Vendetta
"V for Vendetta is a graphic novel written by Alan Moore and illustrated mostly by David Lloyd, set in a dystopian future United Kingdom imagined from the 1980s to about the 1990s. A mysterious masked revolutionary who calls himself "V" works to destroy the totalitarian government, profoundly affecting the people he encounters. Warner Bros. released a film adaptation of V for Vendetta in 2005."
(Taken straight off of Wikipedia)

The reason why I was interested in this graphic novel was because I found out that the Guy Fawkes mask is the same one used to represent Anonymous. So I was just interested to see what that was all about, and why this represents the group. Fun Fact: The mask became the most sold mask on Amazon because of its use in Anonymous.

A Midsummer Night's Dream
"A Midsummer Night's Dream is a play by William Shakespeare, Believed to have been written between 1590 and 1596, it portrays the events surrounding the marriage of the Duke of Athens, Theseus, and Hippolyta. These include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors, who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set. The play, categorized as a Comedy, is one of Shakespeare's most popular works for the stage and is widely performed across the world."
(From Wikipedia)

To be honest, I have read this book before. I read the play 3 years ago, in the beginning of 7th grade. To say that I disliked it is an understatement. However, I found out that we would be reading it in school, and this prompted me to read it on my own, to see whether I would change my opinion.

So yes, my dear bookworms. Enjoy the book(s) of your choice(s), and I will see you all in a week to discuss the books

Till then,
Maya the bookworm <3 ^.^

What's This?

Dear fellow bookworm,
Welcome to the Cool Kid Club.
You may be asking yourself what is this?why am I on here? and other valid questions deserving of answers.

1. What is this?
This, my friend, is the most epic blog you will ever visit (probably not but whatever). I made this blog to spread my love of literature, books in particular. Lots of people live their lives without reading, and while they may seem unaffected by the absence of books, their lives are actually really sad and boring (they just don't know that yet). Books enrich imaginations, inspire, teach vocabulary, and connect people to one another.

2. How does this blog work?
Every Friday, I will be announcing a title of a book. The book may be a classic, a graphic novel (usually not a graphic novel, though (more on that later)), an adventure novel, or any other genre. From that Friday until the next one, I will read the book, and those who choose to read it will too. After a week (on the Friday after the announcement), I will make a post about my opinion on the book. Then, you, the readers, will have a chance to discuss it in the comments or recommend a book for us to read next, and I'll join in on the discussions. The post announcing the next book will be separate from my reaction, but will appear that same day.
I will be reading a book a week, and you can join in on reading the books that sound appealing to you.

3. Why am I on here?
You are on here because you're awesome ^_^
Also because I have some cool books for us to read and discuss.
Oh and you want to be part of the Cool Kid Club (it's cool to read books) ;)

THE FIRST BOOK WILL BE ANNOUNCED THIS FRIDAY

Lets conquer the world (of literature)!!!

Love,
Your favorite book worm, Maya
