Week #1 Books!!!

Hello, fellow bookworms!!

I am super excited to announce what we will be reading this week!!
I have actually decided to do two books this week, and one of them is a graphic novel. That way, people who want to slowly ease themselves into the reading world, rather than diving right into a tough book, have something to read as well.

DRUM ROLL, PLEASE!!!

The two books are.....

V For Vendetta
By Alan Moore

and

A Midsummer Night's Dream
By Shakespeare

^_^ Hurrah!!!!
So before we say our farewells until next Friday, here's a little background on the two books:

V For Vendetta
"V for Vendetta is a graphic novel written by Alan Moore and illustrated mostly by David Lloyd, set in a dystopian future United Kingdom imagined from the 1980s to about the 1990s. A mysterious masked revolutionary who calls himself "V" works to destroy the totalitarian government, profoundly affecting the people he encounters. Warner Bros. released a film adaptation of V for Vendetta in 2005."
(Taken straight off of Wikipedia)

The reason why I was interested in this graphic novel was because I found out that the Guy Fawkes mask is the same one used to represent Anonymous. So I was just interested to see what that was all about, and why this represents the group. Fun Fact: The mask became the most sold mask on Amazon because of its use in Anonymous.

A Midsummer Night's Dream
"A Midsummer Night's Dream is a play by William Shakespeare, Believed to have been written between 1590 and 1596, it portrays the events surrounding the marriage of the Duke of Athens, Theseus, and Hippolyta. These include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors, who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set. The play, categorized as a Comedy, is one of Shakespeare's most popular works for the stage and is widely performed across the world."
(From Wikipedia)

To be honest, I have read this book before. I read the play 3 years ago, in the beginning of 7th grade. To say that I disliked it is an understatement. However, I found out that we would be reading it in school, and this prompted me to read it on my own, to see whether I would change my opinion.

So yes, my dear bookworms. Enjoy the book(s) of your choice(s), and I will see you all in a week to discuss the books

Till then,
Maya the bookworm <3 ^.^

  2. Hello!

Well you're already reading one of this week's books, so you can join in on the conversation this week! If you want, you can write about these books on your blog: more readers.

As you can see, this blog's audience isn't very large at the moment xD

    Thanks for the comment!
